Strong Interviews = Strong Videos

Interviews can be a stressful experience, whether you’re in the hot seat or asking the questions. However, testimonials are a powerful marketing tool for any business or organization. How can you leverage this strategy for your next campaign and make it enjoyable for everyone involved?

Consider these tips to make your next interview stronger than ever:

  1. Create a Comfortable Environment

Odds are your subject will be a bit nervous about the interview or intimidated by the set up. You could be, too! Take a deep breath. You want them to be as natural and authentic on camera as possible, so engage with them before the camera starts rolling to help alleviate their stress! Crack a joke, ask about their passions, or reassure them you’re just having a conversation. Have fun! 👍

2. Avoid Yes or No Questions

Especially if your subject is nervous, they may resort to one word answers, like yes or no, providing no further insight. Rephrase your questions with “tell me about” or “talk me through” to stimulate thoughts and gather more information. 🧐

3. Tap into Their Emotions

Be sure to ask your subject what they were thinking or feeling during the situation or story they are recounting! Capturing those emotions will help your audience connect to your subject. 🤝
